INTRODUCTION --------------- 2Shoot is a Windows application designed to remotely control supported Sony cameras over Wi-Fi. The application provides two main shooting tools: • Intervalometer • ISO Bracketing Supported cameras: • Sony α1 (ILCE-1) • Sony α7 IV (ILCE-7M4) 2Shoot is an independent software project and is not an official Sony product. 2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ---------------------- Operating system: • Microsoft Windows 64-bit Required camera connection: • Wi-Fi remote shooting enabled on the camera • Camera and PC reachable on the same network, according to the Sony remote shooting configuration 2Shoot uses the Sony Camera Remote SDK and native Sony libraries supplied with the application package. 3. STARTING 2SHOOT ------------------ Run: 2Shoot.exe The main window contains: • Intervalometer • ISO Bracketing The top menu provides: • File • Enumerate • Camera Model • Disconnect • About • Help 4. CAMERA ENUMERATION --------------------- Use Enumerate to search for supported Sony cameras. During enumeration: • Camera Model is temporarily disabled • 2Shoot waits until enumeration is fully completed • a Windows system sound is played when cameras are successfully detected If no camera is found, verify the Wi-Fi and Remote Shooting settings on the camera. 5. SELECTING AND CONNECTING A CAMERA ------------------------------------ Open: Camera Model Then select: • Sony α1 (ILCE-1) or • Sony α7 IV (ILCE-7M4) The connection starts automatically. For both supported cameras, 2Shoot can perform up to three connection attempts: • first attempt • retry 1 • retry 2 A Windows system sound is played when the connection succeeds. The connection dialog also contains: Abort Connection Use it if the wrong camera was selected or if you want to stop the connection attempt. 6. SONY α1 CONFIGURATION ------------------------ Typical remote shooting configuration: • Remote Shooting: ON • Connect without Pairing: Enable • Access Authentication: OFF Close Sony RemoteCli or any other application that is already controlling the camera before starting 2Shoot. 7. SONY α7 IV CONFIGURATION --------------------------- For Wi-Fi pairing, open on the camera: Network > Cnct./Remote Shoot > Remote Shoot Function > Pairing Select Pairing and leave the pairing screen visible while 2Shoot searches for the camera. If pairing needs to be enabled again, switching Remote Shoot Function OFF and then ON can make the Pairing option available again. Close Sony RemoteCli or any other application that is already controlling the camera before starting 2Shoot. 8. INTERVALOMETER ----------------- The Intervalometer is used for timed shooting sequences. Available modes: • Interval Mode • Duration Mode 8.1 INTERVAL MODE ----------------- Interval Mode defines the time between consecutive shots. Time settings use 0.5-second increments. Example: 10 shots Interval: 5.0 seconds 2Shoot takes one shot every 5 seconds. 8.2 DURATION MODE ----------------- Duration Mode distributes the selected number of shots over a total duration. The first shot is taken at the beginning of the sequence and the last shot is taken at the end of the selected total duration. Example: 10 shots Total Time: 90 seconds 2Shoot automatically calculates the required spacing between shots. 8.3 FILE TYPE ------------- Depending on the selected camera configuration, the Intervalometer can work with: • RAW • RAW + JPG • JPG 8.4 AUTOFOCUS ------------- Available focus modes: • AF • MF When AF is selected, 2Shoot performs the required autofocus/shutter sequence. When MF is selected, the camera is expected to be manually focused. 8.5 SHUTTER SPEED AND TIMING ---------------------------- 2Shoot reads the actual shutter speed from the camera. Before starting a sequence, the application checks whether the requested interval is compatible with: • shutter duration • autofocus time • camera processing time If the requested timing is too short, 2Shoot reports a more practical minimum value. 8.6 SAVE FOLDER --------------- When START is pressed, 2Shoot asks for the destination folder. After a sequence completes successfully: • the files are transferred to the selected folder • 2Shoot waits approximately 2.5 seconds • the destination folder is then opened automatically in Windows Explorer If the sequence is stopped or fails, the folder is not opened automatically. 9. ISO BRACKETING ----------------- ISO Bracketing creates a sequence of photographs at different ISO values while keeping: • shutter speed unchanged • aperture unchanged The current camera ISO is used as the center value of the bracket. 9.1 NUMBER OF SHOTS ------------------- Available sequences: • 3 shots • 5 shots • 9 shots 9.2 BRACKET STEP ---------------- Available ISO steps: • 0.3 EV • 0.7 EV • 1.0 EV 9.3 ISO RANGE ------------- Minimum ISO used by the 2Shoot bracketing table: ISO 100 Values below ISO 100 are not used by the bracket sequence. 9.4 ISO SEQUENCE ORDER ---------------------- The sequence is always executed from the lower ISO value to the higher ISO value. Example: Base ISO: 1600 Shots: 9 Step: 1.0 EV Sequence: 100 200 400 800 1600 3200 6400 12800 25600 The center value is the ISO originally set on the camera. 9.5 LIVE ISO SCALE ------------------ The lower status bar displays the calculated ISO bracket sequence in real time. The central ISO value is shown in bold. The scale automatically changes when: • the camera ISO changes • the number of shots changes • the EV step changes 9.6 CAMERA STATUS ----------------- The upper status bar displays: • Camera • ISO • Shutter • Aperture The information is refreshed while the controller is idle. 9.7 AUTOFOCUS BEFORE THE SEQUENCE --------------------------------- If the camera is in AF mode: • 2Shoot sends an initial autofocus pulse • autofocus is held for approximately 500 ms • 2Shoot waits approximately 0.7 seconds before starting the bracket sequence If the camera is in MF mode, the autofocus pulse is skipped. 9.8 ISO BRACKETING TIMING ------------------------- For each ISO value, the sequence is approximately: 1. Set the new ISO 2. Wait 1.0 second 3. Take the photograph 4. Wait for capture confirmation 5. Wait 2.0 seconds before the next ISO value Capture confirmation timeout: 5 seconds 9.9 ISO SETTING RETRIES ----------------------- If an ISO value is not accepted immediately, 2Shoot can retry. Maximum attempts: • first attempt • retry 1 • retry 2 9.10 RESTORING THE ORIGINAL ISO ------------------------------- At the end of the bracket sequence, 2Shoot restores the original camera ISO. The same retry logic is used if necessary. The original ISO is also restored after STOP or an error whenever possible. 9.11 SAVE FOLDER ---------------- When START is pressed, 2Shoot asks for the destination folder. After a successful sequence: • the files are transferred • the original ISO is restored • 2Shoot waits approximately 2.5 seconds • the destination folder is opened automatically The folder is not opened after STOP or an unsuccessful sequence. 10. STOPPING A SEQUENCE ----------------------- Use STOP to cancel the active shooting sequence. 2Shoot attempts to leave the camera in a safe state. During ISO Bracketing, the original ISO is restored whenever possible. 11. DISCONNECT -------------- Use Disconnect to close the active camera connection. After disconnection: • Intervalometer is disabled • ISO Bracketing is disabled Select a camera again from Camera Model to reconnect. 12. PORTABLE VERSION -------------------- 2Shoot can be distributed as a portable Windows application. The portable folder normally contains: • 2Shoot.exe • SonyCameraBridge.dll • Cr_Core.dll • Cr_PTP_IP.dll • Cr_PTP_USB.dll • libssh2.dll • libusb-1.0.dll • monitor_protocol.dll • monitor_protocol_pf.dll • CrAdapter folder Do not remove the native Sony libraries unless you know they are no longer required. 2Shoot does not require installation when distributed as the prepared portable package. 13. TROUBLESHOOTING ------------------- 13.1 CAMERA NOT FOUND --------------------- Check: • Remote Shooting is enabled • camera Wi-Fi is active • camera and PC are correctly connected • no other Sony remote-control software is using the camera • the correct camera model is selected 13.2 CONNECTION FAILED ---------------------- 2Shoot automatically retries the connection up to two additional times. If it still fails: • disconnect/reconnect camera Wi-Fi • verify remote shooting settings • restart the camera • restart 2Shoot 13.3 SONY α7 IV PAIRING PROBLEM ------------------------------- Return to: Network > Cnct./Remote Shoot > Remote Shoot Function > Pairing Leave the pairing screen open while 2Shoot searches. 13.4 SONYCAMERABRIDGE.DLL ERROR ------------------------------- If Windows reports: Unable to load DLL 'SonyCameraBridge.dll' or one of its dependencies verify that the portable folder contains: • SonyCameraBridge.dll • Cr_Core.dll • Cr_PTP_IP.dll • Cr_PTP_USB.dll • libssh2.dll • libusb-1.0.dll • monitor_protocol.dll • monitor_protocol_pf.dll • CrAdapter folder 13.5 OTHER SOFTWARE ------------------- Do not run Sony RemoteCli or another application that controls the same camera at the same time as 2Shoot. 14. IMPORTANT NOTES ------------------- Camera behavior can vary depending on: • camera firmware • lens • autofocus performance • image format • memory card performance • Wi-Fi quality • Sony Camera Remote SDK version Always test important shooting configurations before using them in critical work. 15.
